The volunteer work team at the Engineering Technical College, Basra, carried out a tree planting campaign to plant more than 500 seedlings, which were planted in four stages, under the sponsorship and presence of the President of the Southern Technical University, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, and the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Laila Balasim Hashem, and in the presence and follow-up of a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. .
The seedlings were selected according to soil specifications and their ability to face climate change and combat environmental pollution. For the sake of interest in the university environment, different types of plants were planted, including (palm tree, henna plant, acacia, bougainvillea, oleander, and Mecca rose) in different courtyards of the college corridors.
The campaign aimed to enhance environmental awareness of the importance of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection, leading to a change in agricultural behaviors and practices for the better and preserving the environment, as it contributes to environmental conservation measures by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices.
