Basra Engineering Technical College held the scientific conference for students’ graduation projects for the academic year 2023/2024 and under the slogan “Graduation projects are technical research towards creative and sustainable development” in the presence of the university’s assistants, the dean of the Basra Administrative Technical College, the dean of Basra Technical Institute,in the presence of the Dean of the College, Dr. Laila Balasim Hashem, the teaching staff, project supervisors, and students.
The conference was opened by the President of the University in a speech in which he stated that “the university is witnessing these days the holding of student conferences for all formations in line with the aspirations and vision of the University Presidency by focusing on raising scientific skills and preparing leadership figures capable of serving society and creating a spirit of positive, constructive work among students.” The President of the University praised “The organizational role of the conference, the scientific and preparatory committees, the marketing of ideas, and preparation for students’ entry into the labor market.”
In the speech of the Dean of the College, Dr. Laila Balasim Hashem, she stressed that “the College seeks a different vision, a renewed approach, and a steady spirit in the work that the President of the University has planned for us in sustaining the university environment, entering international classifications, building research work teams, concluding various partnerships, and being open to the labor market to provide services.” Society,” noting, “We are proud that it has become a shining beacon of knowledge in the process of higher education, creative development, thinking, and achieving success, as our college is keen to continuously develop its vision and mission and to develop its plans and programs in a way that suits the needs of the local, Arab, and international markets.”
Projects of various specializations that suit modern technologies for the labor market participated in the conference, including:
1- Using the Internet of Things in patient health care
2- Study of the performance of a gas turbine engine
3- Event detection device using the Perry head
4- Recycling papers and cardboard and converting them into environmentally friendly materials
5- Applying integration processes to treat polluted water
6- Design, installation and testing of a heat recovery system connected to an evaporative cooler
7- Manufacturing and analyzing the performance of the geothermal energy system
8- Using the drone for agricultural purposes
9- Design an inverter based on the implementation and design of microcontrollers
10- Study the performance of an absorption cooling system associated with thermoelectric power generators
11- Predictive car maintenance
12- Study the effect of biological corrosion on industrial equipment
13- Design of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger
14- Preparation of polymeric compounds as corrosion inhibitors
15- An experimental comparative study of energy storage materials in solar collectors
16- Design and installation of a two-stroke gasoline engine
17- Smart coffee factory
18- Building and designing a weather system and a data transfer process over the Internet
The Scientific Committee announced three winning projects at the conference, and the University President presented certificates of thanks and appreciation to the Scientific Committee, the teaching staff supervising the projects, and the winning students.
