The President of the Southern Technical University Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq sponsored
a workshop on academic accreditation according to the standards of the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of University Engineering Education in the meeting room at Basra Engineering Technical College.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Alaa Farid Abdel-Ahad, the deans of the engineering colleges that will provide institutional program accreditation, the Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, Dr. Rita Salem Adam, and the heads of scientific engineering departments in all university formations.
The President of the University explained the importance of this workshop and the necessity of holding it at this stage after the Southern Technical University has reached an important way of success and achieved a qualitative and reliable achievement at the graduate levels of primary and postgraduate studies, scientific research, infrastructure, and achieving a decent university environment.
Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq praised the efforts made at the university by the scientific and administrative staff, and these efforts were clearly reflected in the university’s classification among Iraqi and international universities, calling for these efforts to continue at a higher pace because we are not only required to maintain success, but rather we are urgently required to raise the level of success. He raised his voice continuously, declaring his great support for the workers who are keen to deliver the work at the required level.
During the workshop, in-depth dialogues took place between the deans, quality officials, and heads of scientific engineering departments, in the presence of the President of the Southern Technical University, about the updated accreditation mechanisms, achieving accreditation request requirements, and the accreditation request mechanism. This workshop also presented presentations (PowerPoint) on what has been accomplished within the scientific engineering departments in accordance with the schedules specified by the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of Engineering Education and what things must be provided within record periods of time. The President of the University and the audience listened to these presentations and presented his comments on them, thanking the participants in this workshop for the valuable efforts they made during their work.
