The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the lecturer at Basra Engineering Technical College within the Southern Technical University, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Khaled Shaker Al-Sayyab, one of the researchers who won the award for scientific research on climate and its impact on security, stability, and sustainability in Iraq, in third place among the engineering colleges in Iraq.
Among ten researchers in different specializations.

His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in his speech during his meeting with the researchers in the presence of the Director General of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, stressed the importance of linking scientific research paths to the requirements of sustainable development, whose goals are distributed across the environmental, economic and social fields, indicating that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research pays intense attention. Because universities contribute to achieving the highest level of response to the global development goals of the United Nations, which made our academic institutions record their positive competitiveness in the Times Sustainable Development classification, which showed Iraq ranked seventh in the world, it also emphasized the support of researchers and the provision of solutions to environmental problems.

While Al-Sayyab stressed that “scientific research has begun to enhance scientific publishing spaces and expand the circle of specialized research related to providing scientific treatments that would contribute to providing sustainable solutions to the problems of climate change. Scientific research has also recently witnessed development as a result of the vision and support of the Ministry and the support and facilitation of the presidency.” The university achieved third place in engineering specializations, competing with all Iraqi universities

Al-Sayyab participated in his research on complex systems for the uses of power generation, cooling, and heating using environmentally friendly refrigerants, research published in the Applied Energy magazine by Elsevier Publishing House.
